SURVIVORS

BBC One tonight brings us episode three of the six part drama Survivors. The plot of Survivors focuses on a group of survivors of a fictional flu-plague epidemic that ate the immune systems of large proportion of mankind. They now have to start a new life in a vicious world in where people will kill to hold on to a lifetime supply pop-tarts and pickled eggs from Netto. Well I know I would at least go up-market to Waitrose and live my end days in style. The storyline itself is not pushing boundaries as it would be more likely that you would end up left behind with your arc-enemy or the t-pain look-alike that stalked you on your journey to work. But luckily for them they are all reasonably good looking especially the Asian playboy Al Saqid played by Phillip Rhys, I know I wouldn't mind starting a new mankind with him. Unfortunately it hasn't quite got the same creative flair as lost, it would be ingenious to see a talking polar bear jump out of the Netto ready to defend his property with a machine gun, it might grab in a few more viewers. If your baffled by the goings on its worth taking a peak tonight at 21:00 on BBC One even if it is just drool over hunk Phillip Rhys.

Any suggestions on how justice for Baby P can be achieved?

In further developments in the campaign for justice for Baby P three senior figures at Haringey council have been suspended as result from the findings in the tragic 16 page report. At the full front of the blame is the director of children's service is Sharon Shoesmith, who has been suspended with full pay. Does that sound like justice to you? Shoesmith is on a yearly salary of £100,000, so how is she being convicted by sitting at home comfortable still racking in the cash? But how can justice for Baby P be fully achieved or is it ever achievable considering the torture Baby P suffered. Should the price to pay for his death be increased?

The Big Comeback!?

The anticipation of Britney Spears UK comeback on X-Factor was plastered all over the press and was tipped as the huge comeback performance... again! Forget going out Saturday night, watching Britney Spears on our screens is where the partay is at!! So the outcome produced from Britters was as to be expected, a slightly below par dance routine, i'm missing the days when she could keep up with her backing dancers. Also miming to the backing track, it was inevitable. And her carefully articulated speech when asked about the acts, " Yea, I love London." Poor Britters, her PR Guru's aka Mum and Dad has probably warned her not say anything to jeopardise her big comeback, well congratulations she didn't say much at all! At least Mariah Scary, Oh I mean Carey managed to give the acts a word of encouragement despite her dismal performance whilst on X-Factor. Well in the light of the events gone on in Britney's life there's not much they can take from her, the best advice she could give is stay away from the hair clippers!

"Hunger? I don't see hunger!"

A developed society?... your asking yourself. Well I too am questioning what the aim of this blog spot is too? To be honest it is a free for all on the most randomination of topics. From how your brother talks a lot of crap (as mine is doing so now) to how consumer culture has chewed us up and is ready to spit us out. As my attention is usually focused on things I love such as Mangoes and the soon to be jailed rapper T.I I was going to go on a spree of topical convo's surrounding such cultural necessities. But not long ago I attempted to start doing research for a photo essay I have to conjure for JCM 3100 module aka Photojournalism and came across P.A.P blog (http://filipspagnoli.wordpress.com/2008/05/08/human-rights-facts-8/), a blog dedicated to human rights and found the image above which was a common image I see more than often in the press. What really struck me was the comments about famine, one even saying "I feel sorry for them ………… NOT." Ok so there are losers out there who are too selfish and ignorant to care but the people who pretend to give a dame but are really more concerned about the latest going on in X-factor or which iPod to get next truly receive my pity. And to be brutally honest it is the majority of us!!Consumer culture and greed has made the world in to what it is today... advertisements are controlling our desires and programmes such as " I'm a pathetic, washed up/wannabe celebrity...Get me out of here!!" are turning our attention elsewhere to making us forgot that not everyone has got a apple pie, Ben and Jerry's or even... yes, Rubicon mango to come home to. I'm not saying let's all give up the things we love, because I'll surely be dead without my daily dose of mango juice, but take the time to reflect on the suffering that is hidden out there and think about how you can make a change. And of course you don't see hunger, you feel hunger and I am definitely feeling their hunger.
